Thanksgiving came and went and now, amidst all the leftovers, we have some sorting of priorities to do: Prioritizing the holidays that come next, prioritizing a few moments of down time over the endless onslaught of work, prioritizing health over the equally endless onslaught of sugar and butter and wine.
You all know I love (and succumb to the siren song) of sugar and butter as often as you do, but there are those days when the Kale in me is mightier than the Caramel. And on those days—like today—I want green juice. Because today, you see, I find myself sick with a cold during these precious moments of vacation at my childhood home on Maui.
I’m blaming my cold on cuddling with feverish children at Thanksgiving (how can you say no to cuddles?!), but no matter the cause, I’m taking it as my cue to drench my body with as much vital energy and sustenance from whole foods as I can.
This simple blender blitzer of a juice is so easy you might not even have to leave the house to get ingredients to make it. I intentionally alchemized fruits that you likely already have in the fridge—remnants of the Thanksgiving feast: Pear, cranberries, spinach, and ginger.
Water, some ice, a couple drops of stevia, and SHAZAM! You’ve got yourself the perfect holiday cleanse. Cranberries are tart and light, providing a super dosage of vitamin C for immune health and overall glow. Pears lay down a creamy sweetness. Spinach adds grassy brightness and depth.
I’m guzzling as much of this as I can so I’m ready to climb some waterfalls and jump in the ocean again before I jet back to LA. Whip up your own and we can be holiday cleanse twinsies.
